Archive
The end result of the project will be the production of an online research archive on mobility, violence, memory and solidarity.
An archive built around the experiences of migrants, the work of activists, and the activities of national and international institutions.
An archive assembled through recorded voices, filmed interaction spaces, hand-drawn, printed or digital maps and written documents.
An archive interwoven with human stories that have happened or are happening between Africa, the Mediterranean Sea and Europe.
In the long tradition of the philosophical, historical, anthropological and social science disciplines, the archive has been defined as an emergent property of discourse within societies and cultural groups, a historical manifestation of political formations and acts, an appendage of state power, a tool of colonial power, a terrain in which to recover the shadow subjectivities of subordinates, a tool in the hands of subordinates themselves through which they can assemble new historical subjectivities.
In this project, the production of knowledge is a public, open and horizontal effort in which researchers, stakeholders and participants question and collaborate to reflect on mobility in our time. We also imagine our archive as an experiment in the emancipatory possibilities of archiving to understand the many voices that speak of mobility, violence and solidarity in these times, and to occupy a space of public action in our Afro-European social, cultural, economic and political worlds.
